A deep manhole was to be constructed at the bottom of a large slope to access a sanitary sewer for a new development in London, Ontario. The permanent shoring system consisted of a sheet pile wall and tieback anchors. Upon installation of the sheet pile, excavation was carried out in 1.2 metre lifts to allow for Chance Helical Anchor installation. Four levels of helical tiebacks were installed into dense sand to tieback the sheet pile wall to allow for installation of the manhole.
