A condominium tower was to be built on a reclaimed industrial site. Due to the previous construction activity, the fill material was unsuitable for shallow footings and required deep foundations. The site was located next to the Grand River and had a high water table. Driven piles and caissons were not cost-effective options due to the cobbly soil below the fill material.
EBS designed and built the required deep foundation. The Chance Helical Piles were chosen due to the ability of the pile to navigate the surface soils with small obstructions and penetrate the cobble rich native soil.
