Load Testing

Load Tests

EBS has conducted over 750 load tests on Chance Helical Piles across Ontario, 300 of these load tests can be examined on the only industry accessible digital load test database.

This load test database provides:

  • Searches that can be focused on regions in Ontario.
  • Searches based on characteristics such as location and maximum load.
  • Borehole and load test results for each individual test site.
  • Load performance graphs for each test.

Load testing of helical piles is the best method of determining the capacity of the pile foundation design. The results of the load test can be used to verify design assumptions. Load tests can be performed at different stages of design and construction. Load testing during the design of a potential project can verify pile capacity and can be used to develop the most efficient and cost-effective design. Common types of load tests employed are static axial load test (compression and tension) and static lateral load test.
